I don’t blog a lot. We get caught up in work, and it’s so much easier to just post a teaser on facebook and go on. I remember falling in love with our photographer through his blogs, and him giving us a snapshot into the side of weddings you don’t normally see. I’ve been so focused on getting photos to people on time, I don’t think about the positive effects of taking an hour to toss up a blog on some of the more unique weddings we’ve been a part of. How else are we going to keep getting this rad clients without showing what we can do?
One of our favourite things in the world to do is travel, so here’s a little look into Steve & Marie’s wedding at the funky Flamingo Hotel right on the strip in fabulous Las Vegas.
I’m sitting here, typing this remember how wonderfully warm this day was; these two have such great chemistry, I hope their wedding day is just as beautiful.
I’ve been busy.
I know everyone says that, but I seriously have been flat out. I also kinda got married to the most wicked man alive. More on that later.
Back in June, Sarah & Shawn decided that they liked each other a whole bunch and should celebrate that fact by getting married and doing an awesome job at it.
They invited me along for the ride, it was DEADLY! (For those non-newfs Deadly = Awesome, amazing, wicked, A+)
Dies for a drop of Fred’s Records on Duckworth, they’re my go to for Vinyl purchases and are close to my heart as it was our engagement location! Shawn and Sarah are MASSIVE music lovers, as you may have seen from his CD collection earlier.
Another key is to keep your belly happy… don’t be afraid to snack!
It’s incredible what a few sets of lights can do to bring down a usually high and dark ceiling here at the Fluvarium, such a beautiful final touch by Sarah & Shawn!
This wedding was a first, first of many. The first time I stood beside my best friend as she said I do to the man of her dreams and baby daddy, the first time I ventured to oil land Alberta, and the first time I stood in a wedding that I also photographed. I’m thankful for an amazing fiancé who knows how to take a picture just as good as I can.
Nicki has put up with all my nonsense since up the shore and down the shore became one in the 8th grade. We’ve gone through heart breaks, camping trips, road trips, movie nights, hating each other, fighting like cats and dogs, graduating, moving across countries and so much more. There’s a few more diamonds on her hand, her and Shane have had the world’s most beautiful son – but it’s still the exact same. No matter how long we spend apart, how long without talking, it’s always the same. While I may not have imagined Shane marrying someone who means so much to me when I first met him and his blonde frosted tips in the year 2000, he’s the perfect husband. The perfect father. They’re just perfect together.
I’m really glad I get to be a part of their perfect life.
I love you both (and Colton too).
This wedding took time. Patience. Love. It was hand-made with nurture and care by family and friends of the newlyweds. It was Friday the 13th. Things that could go wrong, did.
But Tommy and Val shrugged it all off. Love is lucky you see.
They were there to celebrate their love, their marriage, their child – and the laughter never stopped the whole day.
Get creative, step outside the norm. Get offbeat. Let’s get wild, let’s have fun – at the end of the day all that matters is the fun you’ve had with friends and family. At the end of the day it’s you and him/you and her. Be yourself. Be true to you. Be true to each other.
I had a lot of fun shooting this one. (Selena, get your tissues out)
