You know those couples, the ones who when you were in high school had been together since grade eight, the ones who you knew still got butterflies when they saw each other, the ones you just KNEW were meant to each other – and the question wasn’t “if” they’d ever get married, the question was “when?”.  That couple for me, was Elaine and Max. I’ve known Elaine since I was four years old, when I was a spoiled Toronto kid and would slap her when she didn’t want to play Barbie’s my way.

I started out “living across the cove”, and moved closer and close to her, so for most of my life she was always “just up the hill”.  Elaine’s family had become my family many many years ago, she stopped being my friend and started being my sister somewhere along the way. We’ve been there from out first heart breaks, to our first kisses (she was even in the room for mine!), to graduating high school and now marriage. It’s hard to picture what my life would have been like had I not had Elaine a 15 second jog up the hill from me. She was the first person I’d call every Christmas morning, she was the first person to take me in during a fight with my parents, and was always there to offer me a hug when I fell for boy after boy and they continuously broke my heart. (What can I say I was boy crazy? I mean, I still am!!)

I remember their first anniversary, their second, third, fourth, fifth… and then I just stopped counting. He makes her smile like there’s no tomorrow, and she still has that sparkle in her eye even after all these years – which cements the fact I’m sure they’ll be together for the rest of their life. I can’t remember the point where it just stopped being Elaine, and started being Elaine and Max – they’re one person in two bodies. (Are you crying yet girls? Haha) Hell, they’re even teachers at the same school in Harbour Brenton!

The entire day we were all fighting back tears, and I was doing an awesome job until I saw Max slip the ring onto her finger. I’ve never been so happy at a wedding in my entire life, as I was at this one. Rain didn’t stop us from rocking outdoor shots – they’re troopers, and she managed to take the Lions Center from a typical “bay” wedding into something out of this world.

As with most weddings, there were a few hiccups throughout the day in regards to other aspects besides photography, but the biggest compliment I’ve ever received at a wedding was from Elaine as we were saying our goodbyes before I left.

“You were the one person I knew I could count on, and the only thing I wasn’t worried about”
I love you two, now make me some babies.

Hello! I’ve begun to accept bookings for weddings in 2010, I debated roaming the world but decided to put it on hold after having such a fantastic season! :)

Chantel is a friend of mine from High School and she contacted me on behalf of her Aunt to do a few family portraits, and it ended up including Chantell’s dad and his girlfriend and their kids too. Which is completely fine with me, because Chantel’s family is pretty much my second family, they took me in for an entire summer and I’ve been grateful to them ever since! We ran through the park, chased ducks and I had a blast shooting all the cuties in these families!

Patricia and Brad’s wedding was all the way out in Newtown, in an area I absolutely love! The sands, the beaches, the weather! Their wedding was no exception! The whole wedding happened pretty much in the Barbour Living Village, which is this really awesome old school settlement including an old mansion, school house and fishing stage!

Aren’t her eyes fantastic?

I make my brides work for it, through ditches and everything!

Be warned: jokingly saying “drop your pants” will result in the guys doing exactly as you say.

They had no reservations in channeling their inner gangster.

Brad and Trisha tought the bridal party a thing or two in the school house.

I absolutely LOVE this shot.

No, I didn’t give in and start doing stiff boring poses… check the wall behind them ;)

Congrats Trisha & Brad!

Most of my updates are over in the Music Blog as most of my work is Music Photography, however Grad and Wedding season are now under way so expect a few posts here.

Also I’ve been getting a lot of emails in regards to me moving to Toronto. Please understand I am moving at the END of Sept. and all your wedding contracts are secure and your wedding will take place. No need to panic! :) For those who have me booked in 2010 (the small amount of you, as I’ve cut my bookings down for that summer) you’re all aware that I will be flying from out of province for your wedding and all will occur as planned! :)

Thanks!

Here’s a few more shots from the second day of shooting;

This past Sunday hundreds of kids lined up at the Village mall to audition for CMT/YTV’s Karaoke Star Jr. I was there freelancing, standing back behind the crowd not being invasive, introduced myself to one of the producers and through a bit of chatting we got me in a position that worked well for me. I was able to meet all the cast and crew, and ended up shooting not just one day, but two days, covering the top 5 auditions the next day. The crew was amazing, so I took it upon myself to show them a good time here in Newfoundland, and that’s what started a new lovely friendship with the FANTASTIC crew.

The kids had 6 songs to choose from, but the favorite of the day was “Love Story” by “Taylor Swift” which 98% of the contestants sang and as lovely a song as it is – if I hear it again… I might explode. It was extremely neat to see the ins and outs of a televised competition like this, and I wasn’t afraid to get my hands dirty and help pack up the set after the second day was over!

What a great couple of days- and hopefully the start of many more like it!

I’m going to try and blog at least once a week on my portrait blog and my music blog. Let’s see if I can actually pull this off!

I have a few projects I’m working on that I’ll blog about when they actually start happening. Even though it’s only February – Grad and wedding season is slowlllyyyy sneaking up on me, and I’m glad to say I’m ready to ROCK IT!

I’ve been asked a few times in the past little while who’s my inspiration, and my favorite photographer.

Hands down?

Joey Lawerence.

CHECK.HIM.OUT!

Ps; This is Tiffany, isn’t that smile infectious?

I’ve had a few requests for prints of my Newfoundland scenic photographs, and I’m now offering matted prints in most every size of each scenic photograph! You and purchase them online by clicking below!

I think mother nature is a little confused. Summer was sprung upon us and it seems today to be ripped from our loving hands.

But we all know that Summer also means WEDDING SEASON. This is my first wedding season, and for those who don’t know I’m working with Charro Benteau of Atlantic Horizon Imaging .We had our first wedding two weekends ago with Joanne and Scott. Unfortunately for Joanne and Scott, the rain seemed to never stop, I quickly became a jack of all trades. Second shooter, assistant, umbrella holder, etc.. but we worked around everything and walked away with amazing shots!

The details in the wedding were amazing, orchids laced every table, thank you boxes filled with hershey kisses lay in front of every guest, the intricate details blew me away!

Congrats Joanne and Scott! I had fun assisting Charro on your wedding day!

You know you’re at a catholic wedding, when you see this hanging on the clothes line!

Mr & Mrs.Rideout

Under a tree is not that great of an escape from the rain, but Joanne and Scott didn’t seem to notice.
